Hey everyone,
Welcome back. I'm going to keep messing with the look and structure of these every week until it feels right, so if you're a real one, hit me with some feedback. I'm going to keep writing these for the foreseeable future, so the least I can do is make it a pleasant experience for you too.
Our weekly investor updates are super barebones, more of a "here's what got done, and here's what's next." This newsletter is where I get to be a little more head-y. Talk about the themes, the vision, where Highmark fits in the bigger picture, and progress pics too, obviously.
Inspiration & Realization

The fun thing about ideas and iterating is we steal from ourselves. Something shows up in one house, we really like it, we improve on it and then it lands in the next house even better. Then better again. Half the time we don't even know exactly where it spawned but can see how it continued. Julie and I went to Japan last April and then we built a Japanese-inspired house. Go figure! And now that house’s influence is bleeding into so many things after it. Just the way it works.
But actually realizing the ideas after the inspiration, that's the fun part. Biggest thing we've learned in this game is you can build damn near anything. Sure, there are limits, things like cost, usefulness, aesthetics, etc. But when someone is building a custom home and knows what they want? It's possible. It's always possible. It just becomes a math, budget, and timeline problem. We're deep in exactly that right now, costing out items on a custom home we're drawing up. Super exciting! Will keep y’all posted on how that one comes along but so far it is shaping up to be a fantastic floor plan.

Design Corner
While we're on design, here are some angles, colors, and close calls we made on a few of our builds.
Wood Stained Birch
Almost left this birch raw. Stained it to look like leather instead. No regrets.
Garage Door Sun Room
Was supposed to be a screen. We wanted it usable in every kind of weather, so: full door.
Straight Lines and Edges
Had to sneak a foundation pic in. These lines determine the entire rest of the house. Every bit of it.
I know it was a bit of a different pace this week. I gotta switch it up every now and then! We're also in the middle of completely revamping the website, so next week I should have a real update on that for y'all.
